CONTEXT & CONSTRAINTS

FINAL PROJECT OF MY STUDIES

AGATEA was my final student project, developed by a team of 5. As Level Designer, I focused on world progression, pacing, readability, and player guidance through a first-person exploration journey set in an alien underground world.

PROJECT CONTEXT

AGATEA was built as a complete first-person exploration experience, designed to bring together the main design, production, and technical skills we had developed during our formation.

The project was also a transition from isolated exercises to a more complete production workflow. We had to learn and use Unity in a more concrete way, while continuing classes and applying our design knowledge directly into one shared playable experience.

As Level Designer, I worked within the team to structure the player journey, organize the progression between areas, and support a coherent exploration flow. The project required constant alignment between design intentions, visual direction, gameplay needs, and team communication.

JOURNEY / BIOME PROGRESSION

A downward journey from the surface to a hidden tech sanctuary, passing through alien biomes and ancient structures.

DESIGN CHALLENGE

Creating a coherent world with narratives and all design intentions

Build a clear exploration flow inside a dark underground world

Guide the player without relying on heavy UI or explicit markers

Balance atmosphere, mystery, and spatial readability

Connect contrasted biomes into one coherent journey

Pace discoveries, mechanics, and landmarks progressively

Keep the scope achievable for a 5-person student team
